phlip is the comfortable and stylish tour bus for earjuice records. the inside is shagged, and the outside is tagged. it currently resides in sunny california.

)--history--(

phlip is a 1963 blue bird school bus originally in service in illinois. it is 33 feet long, over 10 tons, and powered by a gmc v6 401 gas engine in front. it was purchased by a district driver named donald o. blythe in the 70's and converted to a rolling home. the conversion included adding a plethora of shag carpeting, tacky wood paneling, a ridiculously comfortable couch, and an avacado green fridge, stove, vent hood, sink, and bathtub. also added were two bunk beds, hanging closets and dressers for full home away from home comfort.
after the conversion was completed, phlip's history is a bit of a mystery. at the time of purchase in october of '06, legend goes that it had been sitting for nearly 20 years in roger pratt's back yard in las vegas, nevada. in '06, roger was in his eighties, and details of when he bought the bus, how much he used it, and repair records, were long lost memories.
the name phlip comes from the process used to buy the bus; a coin flip. this beautiful prized coach was bought on a whim off of ebay 1 minute before the auction ended for $3,060.
in july '07 it got a facelift by resident l.a. graffiti artists tank and lokus. phlip then took it's maiden voyage with the new paint to black rock city, nevada, for burning man. on it's return trip to los angeles, the bus suffered a massive brain hemerage and required reconstructive surgery in sacramento, california.
countless hours of frustration, enlightenment and education have come from this wonderful vehicle.
